It was nearly two o’clock on a cold Monday. The wind blew hard and the leaves lying in the Jongshimun High School’s backyard were brought into the air landing ungracefully in front of young boy’s feet. Park Jaebeom looked at the table some meters away from his. His brother, Wooyoung was chatting happily with his boyfriend and Jaebeom’s long time crush Ok Taekyeon. Ok Taekyeon was famous throughout their school and this part of town for his height and good looks. He made a perfect bad slash beasty boy and still he wasn’t a brainless idiot. He would’ve been a valedictorian if it wasn’t for that Thai transfer student who was also one of Taek’s best friends – Nichkhun. But yeah, Taekyeon was kind of a God in Jaebeom’s virgin eyes. Yet still, he couldn’t cope with the fact that the boy whom he called his Taekyeon was dating his brother. Jay let out a low growl seeing Wooyoung smiling oh so sweetly at Taek and the other returning the favor right away. He watched how Woo leaned in to whisper something in Taek’s ear and Taekyeon turning his head around; and leaning in and-
“Jay; Jaebeom; Jaebeomie-Hyung?” Jaebeom snapped out of his thoughts feeling someone poking his stomach. He turned to Junho, his twin, who wore a worried look on his young features.
“Ah, yes?” Jaebeom asked turning his whole attention to the said boy. Junho inspected the look on the other’s face before speaking again.
“Jaebeomie-Hyung, are you okay? You look paler than usual and you’ve been staring in space for quite a while now. To top it off, you’ve been doing this a lot lately.” The younger twin stated staring at his brother, eyes wide open.
“Nah,” Jay dismissed it, “I’m just tired, ya know?”
Junho nodded clearly not convinced but didn’t want to disturb the older. Obviously his brother had some problems he didn’t want to talk about at the moment but Junho figured that he’s going to find out what was bothering his ‘other half’ in the end; when Jaebeom won’t be able to keep it to himself anymore.
“If you say so…” younger brother trailed off.
“Do we have any plans for tonight? Jokwon invited us to a sleepover at his place.” Jaebeom asked Junho wanting to get his mind off the guy he loved.
“Hmm…” Ho thought about it for a second before shooting his head up and slapping his forehead with one of his hands.
“We cannot go.” He said.
“What do you mean we cannot go? Dad and mom always let us go to Jokwon’s since they are friends with his parents.” Jaebeom said proving his point.
“That’s not it. Tonight’s ‘the dinner’. The Ok’s are coming over to our place sometime in the evening.” Junho added and Jaebeom’s lips formed an ‘oh’. How could’ve he forgotten about it? It happened at least once a week, his parents would invite their best friends, the Ok family over for dinner and they would drag their kids along so that all of them would bond during the time spent together but the truth is that they were never close. Maybe it was the consequence of this dinners and outings – maybe they were the reason the kids didn’t really talk much. As little boys they were all forced into playing with each other every single day and normally they got bored and fed up with each other. And the uncomfortable feeling lay upon them until few months ago when Wooyoung and Taekyeon suddenly started going out. At first it came as a surprise to all of them but nobody said a thing and Jaebeom couldn’t help but feel jealous towards the couple. Yes, he admitted that it was his fault that he didn’t tell Wooyoung about his major crush on Taekyeon but he claimed that he didn’t have enough time. It just fell upon him so fast that he didn’t even have time to think or breathe and since that moment he’s been lost in this confusing real life drama.
“I’m not going to the dinner party; I’ll stay at Jokwon’s for tonight.” Jaebeom announced getting up. He just couldn’t face Taekyeon today or truth for that matter. And he just walked away leaving the younger twin to stare at his disappearing figure confusedly.
